ESSENTIAL OILS IN PREGNANCY & CHILDBIRTH
Friday 15th October 2010
Advanced training for qualified aromatherapists with Julie Duffy, lead tutor of Clinical Aromatherapy modules in the B.Sc(Hons) Complementary Therapies at the University Of Wales Institute
The aim of this course is to build therapist confidence in treating pregnant women. Many therapists are wary of this area, but a realistic approach, taking into account relevant research, makes this such a rewarding treatment to give. It may also set you apart from many other therapists.
This is a Level 3 Practitioner Course, to attend you must be a qualified Aromatherapist.

Suitable essential oils for the client’s needs throughout pregnancy and labour are discussed, and massage positions and techniques are taught.
We will also cover:
-
Benefits of Aromatherapy & Massage in pregnancy and childbirth
-
Relevant research regarding Aromatherapy in pregnancy and childbirth.
-
Common conditions associated with pregnancy
-
Essential oils to treat such conditions
-
Essential oils considered safe to use in pregnancy
-
Dilutions and other safety considerations
-
Contra –indications to Aromatherapy during pregnancy
-
Suitable massage positions and techniques
-
Essential oils and their use during childbirth
-
Ethical and professional considerations

Information on UK essential oil suppliers will be available if needed.
Testimonials
I did my first pregnancy massage yesterday on an 8 month pregnant lady and I can honestly say it’s the most enjoyable massage I’ve ever done - especially when baby joined in and started wriggling! What is lovely is that this lady will be coming back to see me for baby massage too!
I’m organising an event at a local baby superstore next week for pregnant mums to come along and have pregnancy therapy tasters (with other pregnancy specialists as well as myself) to raise money for our local maternity unit. Busy, busy, busy!
