For those who have completed ’Advanced Massage’ Part 1 and also for Sports Massage Therapists, this is another great opportunity to train with Reg. Osteopath Joanne Perkins.

Advance Massage Techniques (Part 2) will include:

  1. a revision of deep muscle massage to the main muscle groups
  2. articulation to spinal, pelvic and peripheral joints.
  3. an introduction to muscle energy and functional techniques.
  4. Strain/Counterstrain Technique
  5. assessing sacro-iliac mobility & articulation to sacro-iliac joints
  6. assessing leg-length discrepancy & realigning leg-length differences

These skills will be an invaluable addition to your repertoire and will be especially helpful for treating problems that arise during pregnancy as well as sporting injuries, especially golfers & tennis players.

The Muscle Energy Technique and Strain/Counterstrain Technique can be used on any muscle group in the body whilst the Functional technique can be used on any joints in the body.

All the techniques taught provide an opportunity to give your hands a rest

Joanne Perkins  (Registered Osteopath)

Joanne has been an Osteopath since 1988. She also practices in cranial osteopathy, counselling theory and practice, myo-fascial acupuncture, hydrotherm massage, and strain-counterstrain technique. In addition, Joanne also teaches the Advanced Tissue Techniques module of the B.Sc(Hons) Complementary Therapies at  University Wales Institute. Joanne is the secretary of the South Wales Osteopathic Society.
